Join Brighton Dance Crew For A Special Open Class This Mental Health Awareness Week

Fifteen-man Brighton based dance crew Outta Puff Daddys is inviting people of any age, gender, or ability to take part in a rehearsal, learn some moves and have fun.

Spaces are limited so anyone interested in taking part should find out more and sign up by selecting Dance with the Daddys / Wed 15th May. A donation to support the group's running costs is appreciated.

The event coincides with Mental Health Awareness Week, run by the Mental Health Foundation, which is focusing on Movement: moving more for our mental health

Outta Puff Daddys know more than most about the mental health benefits of physical activity.

Crew leader Paul Jukes, aka Jukebox, said:

"We're excited to open our doors for this open session during Mental Health Awareness Week.

"Having been dancing together for more than a decade, we know more than most about the mental health benefits of moving our bodies regularly and we want other people to feel inspired to try something new that gets them moving.

"As well as dancing, the Outta Puff Daddys aim to get more people, particularly men, talking openly about their mental wellbeing.

"We all have mental health and yet the stigma of talking about times when we are struggling still causes so much shame, fear, doubt, isolation, and misunderstanding.

"Through our performances, talks and social media channels we aim to break that stigma and encourage people to take part in positive activities, like dancing with your friends, that nurture and protect our on-going mental and physical health."

This Mental Health Awareness Week the Mental Health Foundation is encouraging millions of people to find #MomentsForMovement in their daily lives.

As part of the campaign, the charity is sharing tips to help people move more and increase the mental health benefits of the movement they do.

To sign up for the Outta Puff Daddys dance open session at 8pm on Wednesday 15th May visit  marinastudios.co.uk/whats-on-marinastudios/  and select the 'Dance with the Daddys' event. For more information on Mental Health Awareness Week visit www.mentalhealth.org.uk/mhaw
