Sadly only a few months into their relationship, Ash is hit by a car on New Year's Eve and killed.
According to legend, the last person to die on NYE becomes the reaper for their parish, so Ash becomes the grim reaper for Brighton, assigned to adolescent deaths.
Their love story doesn't end there, though, as in a twist of fate Ash is reunited with Poppy and they get to have an ending to their story.
It's a story about life, death, being sixteen and your first and last love.
