Queer & Alternative Comedy Club Down The Hatch Returns To Komedia Brighton This Autumn

Komedia Brighton has always, and will always, value diversity and creativity and they are proud to provide a platform for marginalized voices in the comedy scene. 

By creating spaces where queer and alternative performers can showcase their talents they hope to continue to challenge stereotypes, provoke thought, and bring people together through laughter.

Hilarious resident MC Lee Peart is joined by the likes of:

Josh Glanc - one of Australia's most exciting emerging talents.

Dane Buckley - LGBTQ+ New Comedian of the Year Finalist 2022 and one of Skiddle.com's best up-and-coming stand-up comedians in 2023.

Daniel Foxx - viral sensation and NextUp 'Biggest Award in Comedy' Nominee 2023, as seen on BBC One, BBC Three, ITV and Comedy Central.

Lachlan Werner - the "funniest new ventriloquist on the block" (Telegraph), winner of ReviewsHub Best Show Award and nominated for a Soho Playhouse New York Award.

Jess Fostekew - Host of Hoovering podcast, as heard/seen on Guilty Feminist and Motherland and Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Show Nominee 2019.

Joe Kent-Walters – Creator of Frankie Monroe and Winner of the 2023 BBC New Comedy Award and 'Best Show' at Leicester Comedy Festival.

Riggs - BBC New Comedy Award Nominee and Leicester Square New Comedian of The Year Nominee 2023.

Robert White – Runner up in Britain's Got Talent in 2018.

Komedia's current charity partner for Down The Hatch comedy club is The Brighton Rainbow Fund charity, a central hub for community fundraising for Brighton & Hove LGBTQIA+ and HIV support projects. 

This season of Down The Hatch will take place on Sunday 6th October, and Sunday 3rd November.

The Cornucopia fundraising gala will return to Brighton Dome on Thursday 3rd October, following last year's hugely successful inaugural event. 

From 24-27 October, Brighton Dome's inaugural annual Comedy Festival will fill the venue's three historic event spaces with stand-up, improv, clowning, workshops and the world premiere of a 20th anniversary exhibition from cult cartoonists and animators Modern Toss.

A University of Brighton graduate's project making bags from waste courier uniforms has landed him a collaboration with local sustainable design studio, gomi, co-founded by another former Brighton student.

The biennial, open-platform photography festival returns in October with six weeks of exhibitions and events in and beyond Brighton & Hove, Newhaven and for the first time, Portsmouth. 

Members of the public can now measure how kinky they are thanks to a new tool developed by a University of Brighton academic.

In a first for the University of Brighton, technical and support staff from its School of Art and Media will be showcasing their artistic creations to the public this September.
