Lockdown In Chicken Town: John Cooper Clarke Celebrates DIY Punk Ethos In Art & Words Ahead Of Brighton Date

In celebration of his new autobiography I Wanna Be Yours, the original 'people's poet' Dr. John Cooper Clarke will be performing at Brighton Dome, next summer.

He's also teamed-up with UK skateboard store Lost Art collaborator, illustrator, Skateboarder and John Cooper Clarke Fan, Sketch Stance, to present a collection that aims to celebrate the DIY punk ethos that runs through both skateboarding and John Cooper Clarke's works opening up both protagonists to a new audience.

With the subject matter of Evidently Chickentown now more relevant than ever Russ has used the lyrics as an inspiration source to create graphic themes that reflect the current climate and capture the spirit of John Cooper Clarke and Lost Art.

John Cooper Clarke, also known as the Bard of Salford, is a phenomenon: Poet Laureate of Punk, rock star, fashion icon, TV and radio presenter, social and cultural commentator – he's one of Britain"s most beloved and influential writers and performers.

I Wanna Be Yours explores his extraordinary life, filled with remarkable personalities: from Nico to Chuck Berry; Bernard Manning to Linton Kwesi Johnson; Elvis Costello to Gregory Corso; Mark E. Smith to Gil Scott Heron and Joe Strummer and on to more recent fans and collaborators like Alex Turner, Plan B and Guy Garvey.

Interspersed with stories of his rock and roll and performing career, John also reveals his mind-boggling encyclopaedic take on popular culture over the centuries: from Baudelaire and Edgar Allan Poe, to Pop Art, pop music, the movies, fashion, football and show business – with more than a few laughs along the way.

John Cooper Clarke plays Brighton Dome on Thursday 3rd June 2021. For tickets CLICK HERE. Lost Art X John Cooper Clarke collection is AVAILABLE HERE. Purchase I Wanna Be Yours HERE.
