London Philharmonic Orchestra: Brighton Dome's Blessed By Four Unique Concerts

The London Philharmonic Orchestra has always been made to feel welcome in Brighton - so the Dome is particularly pleased that, as it enters the 2008/09 season, its seaside audience is not only increasing in enthusiasm, but also in size.

This season we won't disappoint, bringing four delicious concerts to Brighton Dome.

Beginning with a visit from one of the world's most distinguished conductors, Gennadi Rozhdestvensky, who conducts music by Tchaikovsky on 8 November, as a reflection of the venue's festival of the composer's music in London.

Tchaikovsky universally intrigues, captivates, uplifts and entertains.

And as the Brighton season continues, it embraces more of the celebrated Russian's most cherished works, including the Fourth Symphony, the First Piano Concerto and the Violin Concerto.

Other treats include one of the most spectacular achievements of the Romantic movement, Hector Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique, and Jean Sibelius's sumptuous Second Symphony, as well as a favourite concerto by Rodrigo, overture by Rossini, and suite by Grieg.

The season offers great music, great artists and a great orchestra - play your part as an equally great Brighton audience!

In addition to the Orchestra's work on the concert platform, the London Philharmonic Orchestra's Education and Community Department works closely with Brighton Dome's Education Unit to enhance and support the Orchestra's residency in Brighton.

Working together, and building on very successful past initiatives, the Orchestra and Brighton Dome have planned a year-long project to complement the season.

London Philharmonic Orchestra @ Brighton Dome on Saturday 18th april 2009.

Tickets, priced £10 £15 £18 £23 £27.50 & £32.50, are available from the Brighton Dome Ticket Office on 01273 709709.

Boasting three original members - and three equally iconic figures - the Stranglers, back to a four piece since the change of the millennium, are now cooking on a musical gas that had for a lon... more >>

Kodo: One Earth Tour Came To Brighton

…As the show reaches its climax the heaving sweating men, clutching great drum sticks the width of small trees, are beating and beating and beating and beating away at the great huge drum that dwarfs them (it would fill your living room) as they lean back in some kind of wild yoga stance and raise their arms time after time and the air fills with the noise, the great booming resonance – Yet it is not just the sound but the movement and the architecture of it all, both sound and presence has a sculptural quality so hard to pin down, and so finally they stop, the crowd roars and are on their feet, it is all over.
