Reach Out I'll Be There: Lamont Dozier Collaborator Jo Harman Set For Shoreham Date

Reach Out, I'll Be There was originally famously performed by the Four Tops and will be re-released by co-writer Lamont Dozier, completely repackaged as an gospel fuelled acoustic tune.

Dozier is, of course, famed for his songwriting and production collaborations with the likes of Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and the Supremes and many other Motown greats.

The single will appear as a bonus track on Lamont Dozier's upcoming album Reimagination

Duetting on the record is award winning singer/songstress, Jo Harman.

The singer, whose recent successful album, People We Become, recorded in Nashville, includes a cameo from soul star Michael McDonald on the BBC Radio 2 play-listed track, When We Were Young

Lamont's album, Reimagination, is an acoustic re-interpretation of some of Lamont Dozier's most famed compositions, set to be released in early Spring.

The record, which includes cameo appearances from many notables such as Gregory Porter, Graham Nash and Todd Rundgren, is followed, in June, by a first ever solo UK tour for this legendary figure from the world of Motown.

The tour will be an evening of unplugged acoustic backing to Lamont's own versions of these iconic songs with music direction by bandleader/producer, Fred Mollin.

Lamont will be telling the stories behind these classic songs. Jo Harman will be a featured addition to the performances.

Lamont says about the album:

'It's a brilliant idea that Fred Mollin came up with to reclaim these songs in this fashion and we're just having a ball with it.

"I'm sure Motown fans will dig the new interpretations just as much as we all are here'

Duet partner Jo Harman adds:

'For me, two major pillars of modern music are The Beatles and Motown. To play even a small part in this, well, historic record is genuinely mind blowing for me. It's such a total honour to be involved'.

Lamont Dozier has written over fifty number one hits for Motown and related artists, most famously as part of the songwriting team Holland/Dozier/Holland.

Widely regarded as one of Europe's finest soul/blues fuelled voices, Harman remains a genre-defying, independently minded artist of rare credibility, who makes sincere and heartfelt music, often compared to that of the 'golden age of music'.

Jo recently released her second studio album People We Album to much critical acclaim and no little commercial  success.

Rag 'N' Bone recently took to social media to proclaim her 'one of this country's finest talents' and soul super star Michael McDonald advised 'hearing her cover one of my songs was a spiritual experience'.

Jo Harman plays Ropetackle, Shoreham, East Sussex, on Friday 9th March 2018. For more info CLICK HERE.
