All Kinds Of Disorder: A Peerless Insight Into Humanity & Its Foibles & Tribulations

Nick Burbridge
is to Brighton what the Copper family are to Rottingdean.

Both are keepers of all that's good in this historically and story rich septic isle of ours.

But while Rottingdean is swathed in the bosom and comfort of the Downs, Brighton is its wayward big brother .. out on the pull, looking for fights on a weekend night.

Nick gets under the skin of an anonymous big city like ours.

He is able, via the spoken word, to lift the lid on slept-in bins, and turn back the discarded newspaper to reveal the story behind the characters it covers.

Whereas last time he did this via a printed collection of poems, this time he returns with All Kinds Of Disorder, an album that has his poems brought to life by sound effects, across a range of styles, to create a unique listening experience.

The tracks are taken from a printed collection of the same name (published by Waterloo Press).

The album itself features a cast of genuine outsiders and subversive characters, attacking all centres of the fixed and safe, yet at the heart is a celebration of redemptive forces.

As a singer/songwriter Nick has made five albums with his band McDermott's Two Hours, three in collaboration with The Levellers, who covered his song Dirty Davey.

On All Kinds Of Disorder he joined by Jon Sevink, a fiddler and composer for the Levellers.

Five tracks from the album first saw the light of day on a sampler that accompanied the critically acclaimed book of poetry.

All the tracks are fuelled by dark humour, but constantly illuminated by compassion and attachment, and a profound aesthetic faith.

The writing is subtly measured, yet as one would expect from a seasoned songwriter, driven by internal rhythms and a deep musical sense.

All Kinds Of Disorder is honest, fun and illuminating.

Nick Burbridge has delivered a peerless insight into humanity and its foibles and tribulations. Lovin' it!

All Kinds Of Disorder will be available in October from www.burbridgearts.org and www.levellers.co.uk
